Ave Maria in the Afternoon – December 31, 2024 – Hour 2

Is Concilliar Catholicism in America at an end? George Weigel joins us and we look back on the final segments of Kresta in the Afternoon, speaking with Al’s wife, Sally, and son James.

The End of “Post-Conciliar Catholicism”

After Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race this summer, a prominent Italian theologian lamented that “Conciliar Catholicism” had officially ended in the US. George Weigel disagrees, to say the least. He explains why.

George Weigel is the author most recently of Pomp, Circumstance, and Unsolicited Advice: Commencement Addresses and University Lectures . He's also Distinguished Senior Fellow and William E Simon Chair in Catholic Studies at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. His many other books include Witness to Hope, the Next Pope and Evangelical Catholicism.
