Today on “Kresta in the Afternoon” – June 2

Talking about the “things that matter most” on June 2

4:00 – Bowe Bergdahl, a Taliban Captive Since 2009, Has Been Freed After Prisoner Swap
The only American solider held prisoner in Afghanistan has been freed and is back in U.S. custody after nearly five years of captivity, U.S. officials said Saturday. The officials said the Taliban agreed to turn over Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in exchange for the release of five Afghan detainees from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The transfers happened after a week of intense negotiations mediated by the government of Qatar, which will take custody of the Afghans. We talk to Steve Bucci, National Defense Expert and served America for three decades as an Army Special Forces.

4:20 – Who Are the Gitmo Prisoners Traded for Bergdahl?
The only American soldier held prisoner in Afghanistan has been freed by the Taliban in exchange for the release of five Afghan detainees from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Officials said the exchange was not violent and the 28-year-old Bergdahl was in good condition and able to walk. What hasn’t been talked about too much is the resumes of the detainees that the U.S. has traded to the Taliban? Robert Spencer talks about those who are now free and also discusses what terrorist leaders are saying about the exchange.

4:40 – Kresta Comments – Cardinal Sean O’Malley and the Tale of Two Commencement Excercises

5:00 – Evangelizing Catholics: A Mission Manual for the New Evangelization
You can’t keep the faith unless you give it away. That’s a fact. To be a Christian is to be an evangelizer. When the Catholic Church calls us to a “New Evangelization,” that’s simply a reminder to us of what has always been true. The good news is: you can do it – you can evangelize – and Dr. Scott Hahn is here to show you how. You don’t need esoteric knowledge. You don’t need to master a new set of skills. Evangelization, for Catholics, is simply friendship raised up to the highest level. Enter a deeper friendship with Christ, and you’ll want to share his companionship more and more with a wider circle of friends. Scott joins us.
