Before a crowd of 600, Robert Spencer of jihadwatch.org and Richard Thompson of the Thomas More Law Center, faced off in a debate with Shadid Lewis of the Muslim Debate Initiative representing traditional Islam and Mustafa Akyol, author of Islam Without Extremes claiming that Islam is compatible with Western liberties. The debate was moderated by Ave Maria’s Al Kresta. Other speakers rounded out the discussion with related topics.
