Malta Minute with the Catechism: The New Law is the Law of Love

  • Program #: 52
  • Description: Why is the New Law...the Law of the Gospel...called the Law of Love? It is so called because it helps us act out of love, infused by the Holy Spirit, rather than fear. It is also called the Law of Grace, the Catechism tells us, because it gives us the strength to act by means of faith and the sacraments. A third name for the new law is the Law of Freedom because it frees us from the ritual and juridical observances of the old law. It prompts us to act spontaneously via the nudging of charity. It allows us to move from servant to friend of Christ and even to son and heir. "For all that I have heard from my Father," the Lord said, "I have made known to you." This is Peggy Stanton and this has been the Order of Malta's Minute with the Catechism.
