Description: What are the Gifts of the Holy Spirit? The Catholic Catechism tells us the Gifts of the Holy Spirit sustain us in a moral life. They are a permanent disposition, making man docile to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are seven in number: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord. They are seen in their fullness in the person of Jesus Christ. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are perfections the Holy Spirit forms in us as first fruits of eternal glory. They are: charity, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self control and chastity.
