Malta Minute with the Catechism: The Church and Perfection

  • Program #: 74
  • Description: Where has the Church reached perfection? In the person of the Blessed Mother, according to the Catholic Catechism, who is "without spot or wrinkle." We the faithful are still striving to conquer sin and increase in holiness. The word catholic means universal. The Church is Catholic in a double sense. First the Church is Catholic because Christ is present in her. "Where there is Christ Jesus, there is the Church,"says the Catechism. From him, she receives the fullness of the means of salvation; correct and complete confession of faith, full sacramental life and ordained ministry in apostolic succession. Secondly, the Church is Catholic because she has been sent by Christ to the whole human race. In the beginning God made human nature one and has decreed that all his children who were scattered, should finally be gathered together as one. This is Peggy Stanton and this has been the Order of Malta's Minute with the Catechism.
