Malta Minute with the Catechism: Jesus’ Hidden Life

  • Program #: 33
  • Description: What is the value of Jesus' hidden life in Nazareth? The Catholic Catechism points out that during most of his life, Jesus lived as the majority of humanity; in simplicity and without evident greatness "“ a life of manual labor "“ a career as a carpenter. Jesus' obedience to his earthly parents fulfills the fourth commandment perfectly and forms a temporal image of his obedience to his heavenly Father. Through this obedience, he already began his work of restoring the damage done by Adam's disobedience. This humble period also binds us to Jesus in the ordinary events of our lives. The school of Nazareth teaches us 3 things: The value of silence, the value of family life and the value of work. This is Peggy Stanton and this has been the Order of Malta's Minute with the Catechism.
