Description: Man failed the first test of freedom. He refused God's plan of love and chose freely to sin and made himself a slave to sin. That first sin gave mankind the gene or inclination to sin which has given birth to numerous other sins. The Catholic Catechism reminds us that the "exercise of freedom does not imply a right to say or do everything. Man is not totally self sufficient and his final goal is not his own self interest and the enjoyment of earthly goals." When man violates the moral law, he becomes his own prisoner, disrupting neighborly fellowships while rebelling against Divine Truth. For freedom, Galatians tells us, Christ has set us free. He redeemed us from sin which held man in bondage. This is Peggy Stanton and this has been the Order of Malta's Minute with the Catechism.
