Description: What was the sin that exiled man from the Garden of Eden? It was the sin of disobedience, according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. And it was Jesus' obedience to the Father that reopened the possibility of Paradise to the human race. He took on our sins.....He who never sinned.....in order to incur expiation for our offenses. No mere human, however holy, could achieve such a feat. Christ's divinity alongside His humanity made Him unique. Thus He was the only Savior able to reconcile the world to God because He was God. In taking on a human nature, Jesus opened the avenue for us to partner with Him in the Paschal mystery. He asks His disciples to take up their own crosses and follow His example by offering our sufferings up as expiation for sin, thus giving redeeming merit to misery.
