Description: What does the Eucharist do for daily conversion and penance? The Catholic Catechism tells us we are fed by the Eucharist, for in it, Christ's sacrifice on the Cross, which reconciles us to God, is made present. The Council of Trent declared that the Eucharist "is a remedy to free us from our daily faults and to preserve us from mortal sins." Such devotions as reading sacred scripture, praying the Liturgy of the Hours, the Our Father and every sincere act of worship revives the spirit of conversion and repentance within us and contributes to the forgiveness of sins. The Catechism cites the parable of the Prodigal Son and the very merciful Father as a classic tale of conversion, saying only the heart of Christ who knows the depth of his Father's love could reveal it to us in such a simple and beautiful way.
