Kresta in the Afternoon – October 9, 2015 – Hour 1

+  From Narnia to Middle-Earth: The Conversion of Michael Goodwin

  • Description: Michael Goodwin grew up attending a Bible church in Long Island and always loved hearing about Jesus. He also loved reading the Chronicles of Narnia, which revealed to him the deeper truths about God. He first encountered Catholics in high school and was told they were “Christian, in spite of being Catholic.” When he began reading the Lord of the Rings he noticed deeper meanings in the story and wondered what inspired them. After college, Michael began training to be an Army chaplain. He met a Catholic seminarian who invited him to Mass, where he saw the Bible come alive in entirely new ways. Michael has now been Catholic for five years and is in seminary preparing to become a priest. He joins us today to talk about how real-life versions of Gandalf and Samwise Gamgee helped him discover the Truth of the Church.
