Kresta in the Afternoon – October 16, 2007 – Hour 2

  • Description:

First Topic – A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief

For people of many faiths, the worldview of science is at war with the worldview of religion—it is the ultimate clash of civilizations.  Now, one of the world’s most famous scientists, a former atheist, and the director of the Human Genome Project, comes a sophisticated insight into the ways we can reconcile reason and revelation, and science and faith, putting forth his belief that evolution itself is proof of God’s existence. The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief. Dr. Francis Collins our guest.

Second Topic – Prince of Darkness

Robert Novak has been a centerpiece in Washington journalism and political reporting for 50 years. In his just-released memoirs, he cuts to the chase, beginning this memoir with his first in-person encounter with Joseph Wilson, in the green room of NBC's Meet the Press in 2003. Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame, would eventually form the center of a major career-jeopardizing controversy for Novak, who is blunt in his immediate low opinion of the man. And that characteristic bluntness reigns throughout as he recalls 50 years of political reporting. Novak is with us.
