+  The Pope is Turning 79 - Who are the Top Candidates to Replace Him?

  • Description: Pope Francis will turn 79 on December 17 and doesn’t seem to be feeling the effects of his age. Speculations that he has a brain tumor proved to be false and he continues to keep pace with a schedule that would exhaust most people half his age. That being said, he has hinted since his election that his papacy may be a brief one and has spoken approvingly of the example Pope Emeritus Benedict set with his resignation at age 85. Given Francis’ propensity for surprise moves, it’s never too early to think about who may success him. John Allen joins us to talk about some of the most likely candidates.
