Kresta in the Afternoon – March 8, 2007 – Hour 1

  • Description:

First Segment - Authentically Catholic Education

“Young people…urgently need an all-around education which will enable them to reject cynicism and selfishness and grow into their full stature as informed, wise, and morally responsible members of the community.” Those words of Pope John Paul II encapsulate the vision of Dr. Henry Russell for the mission of Catholic higher education. We examine his latest efforts.

Second Segment - Be Not Afraid

Kitty Cleveland is a native of New Orleans, and therefore has a rich Catholic heritage and soulful music in her blood.  But it took many years of struggle, doubt, distractions, impassioned prayer, half-starts and "misguided university degrees", as Kitty calls them (she is a lawyer and has a master's degree in counseling), before a family crisis brought her to her knees long and hard enough to finally surrender to God's plan for her life as a music missionary. We discuss her work, her father’s false imprisonment, and her experience with Katrina.
