Kresta in the Afternoon – June 2, 2010 – Hour 2

  • Description:

First Topic – From Atheism to Catholicism: How Scientists and Philosophers Lead Me to the Truth

God was dead to Kevin Vost for most of his adult life. Baptized, confirmed, and raised Catholic, at age 17 Vost left it all behind as he immersed himself in atheism for a period that lasted over two decades. Paralleling a successful career as a psychologist and professor, Vost allowed his clinical perspective to drive his faith perspective as well, falling into a common trap for many Catholics. Kevin is here to tell us how he opened the doors to the philosophers and psychologists whose work, implicitly or explicitly, paved the way toward belief in God, and even in Jesus Christ.

Second Topic – The Eucharist and the Rosary: Mystery, Meditation, Power, Prayer

Matt Swaim offers a unique approach to rosary devotion, exploring rosary mysteries as they appear within the Eucharistic Mass. Scripture meditations-illuminated through the Joyful, Sorrowful, Luminous, and Glorious Mysteries of the rosary-are powerfully reaffirmed when connected to the sacrifice and celebration of the Lamb of God. All twenty mysteries of the rosary are considered, with each chapter offering suggestions to help deepen our awareness of Christ's love.
