Kresta in the Afternoon – July 7, 2008 – Hour 1

  • Description:

First Topic – Bush defends decision to attend Opening Ceremonies

President Bush will attend the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Beijing. The announcement quashed any talk of a presidential boycott over China's violent crackdown after anti-government riots and protests in Tibet. China expert Steven Mosher has been calling for a US boycott and joins us to discuss this announcement.

Second Topic – Anglican bishops in secret Vatican summit

Senior Church of England bishops have held secret talks with Vatican officials to discuss the crisis in the Anglican communion over gays and women bishops and to discuss the options for their entry into the Catholic Church. If there were to be a large-scale entry of Anglican bishops into the Church, what might it look like? We talk with Damian Thompson, Catholic writer for the Daily Telegraph and editor of the Catholic Herald.

    Third Topic – TBA
