    First Topic – On Three Uniquely Catholic Gifts

    The recent document on the Church's identity emphasizes the gifts Catholics offer to the quest for unity. That according to Fr. James Massa, director of the U.S. bishops' Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith last week released "Responses to Some Questions Regarding Certain Aspects of the Doctrine of the Church." Fr. Massa discusses what the document offers to ecumenism today, and considers reactions from Protestant communities.

    Second Topic – Peter, The Pope and Infallibility

    On this day in 1870, the First Vatican Council declared by an overwhelming majority the doctrine of papal infallibility. We bring it all back to the beginning, to the person and role of Peter and the apostles, and show how the doctrine of Papal Infallibility has its origin in Scripture.
