Description: On Saturday we celebrated the Feast of St Benedict, the Father of Western Monasticism. When he lived monasticism was spreading throughout Christianity but was largely disorganized as each monk lived according to his own style. By combining strictness, flexibility and wisdom, St. Benedict’s Rule became the universal guide for Western monks. Bill Cook joins us

William Cook is Professor Emeritus of History at State University of New York - Genesceo, where he taught on Medieval and Renaissance Europe and Church History.
