Kresta in the Afternoon – January 8, 2016 – Hour 1

+  What the Next Election Means for the Supreme Court and Religious Freedom

  • Description: There are three important numbers to keep in mind as the presidential race heats up: 78, 80 and 83. By November 8, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer will be 78, Justices Antonin Scalia and Anthony Kennedy will be 80 and Justice Ruther Bader Ginsburg will be 83. This suggests that the next president will likely make at least two nominations to the Court. A pro-life president could nominate candidates who could make historic advances in the protection of the unborn; of course, a pro-abortion president could nominate candidates who could deal devastating blows to the pro-life cause. George Weigel joins us with a look at the Court scenarios and the international conflicts that will play a major role in the next presidency.
