Kresta in the Afternoon – January 25, 2008 – Hour 2

  • Description:

First Topic – China, Dissent and the 2008 Olympics

Chinese police have shut down a Web site selling real-time porn and arrested 33 people, part of a campaign which led to the shut-down of 44,000 Web sites and arrest of 868 people last year. But Human Rights groups have said the campaign has been used as a thinly veiled pretext to crack down on dissent and round up online dissidents ahead of the Olympics. We look at China, Dissent and the 2008 Olympics. David Aikman, author of Jesus in Beijing, is our guest.

Second Topic – Paul in Chains

On this feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, we talk with Fr. Richard Cassidy, author of Paul in Chains. No other book has shown the way that St. Paul's chains and his imprisonment influenced him to change his views about Roman rule.
