    Since Saturday, when Father Adolfo Nicolas was elected by the 35th general congregation of the Society of Jesus, journalists have been describing the new Jesuit superior general as "Arrupe-esque" and "hard to classify." He may be one or the other, says our guest, but he can't be both. Phil Lawler has an analysis of the new leader of the world’s 19,000 Jesuits.

    Second Topic – Code of Canon Law at 25 – Vatican Plans Assessment

    This week marks 25 years since the release of the current code of canon law. In a Vatican press conference. Archbishop Francesco Coccopalmerio, president of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, announced a conference that will conduct an assessment of the code and seek “to identify certain points in need of a little restoration.” Canon lawyer and author of Surprised by Canon Law 1 and 2, Pete Vere joins us.
