Kresta in the Afternoon – December 6, 2007 – Hour 2

  • Description:

First Topic – Romney: “I will serve no one religion”

Mitt Romney put it all on the line this morning, deciding to go forward with a speech on his Mormon faith - a risky and controversial move, even among those within his campaign. He said, “I will serve no one religion, no one group, no one cause, and no one interest.” Al examines this speech and its parallels to JFK’s speech before the Southern Baptist Convention in 1960.

Second Topic – “The Golden Compass” Our Review

The controversy rages over the release of Philip Pullman’s “The Golden Compass.” It hits the big screen tomorrow as a $150 million production. Is the film, as the USCCB review say, “An exciting adventure story, entirely in line with Catholic teaching?” We get our Catholic review from Steven Greydanus. He’s seen the film and has much to say.
