Description: The story of Anne Frank and her family is one of the most well-known stories from the Holocaust. On July 6, 1942 the family went into hiding and remained there until August 4, 1944 when they were discovered and arrested. One of the people who assisted the family during their time in hiding was Miep Gies, a Catholic Dutch woman. Other Catholic led the resistance in Germany, known as the White Rose. We discuss the White Rose and the life of Sophie Scholl with Paul Shrimpton.

Dr Paul Shrimpton is the author of Conscience before Conformity: Hans and Sophie Scholl and the White Rose resistance in Nazi German. He teaches at Magdalen College School in Oxford, England and is a specialist in history of education. HIs other books are "A Catholic Eton? Newman's Oratory School" and "The 'making of men': the Idea and reality of Newman's university in Oxford and Dublin."
