Kresta in the Afternoon – April 5, 2007 – Hour 1

  • Description:

First Segment - Why the All-Male Priesthood?

As we commemorate the institution of the priesthood, we ask one of the questions at the heart of the sacrament - why an all-male priesthood? Pastor, apologist and theologian Fr. John Riccardo takes us on a journey through the history, theology, philosophy, and nature of the Church’s teaching on the all-male priesthood.

Second Segment - Meditations on the Catholic Priesthood

On this anniversary of the institution of the sacrament of the Eucharist, we examine the sacramental life of the priest. At ordination, a priest becomes another person, commissioned not simply to act in the name of Christ, but to be another Christ. Father Charles Connor helps us to see the essence of the priesthood. He shows how, in the Eucharist, the priest finds his raison d'être for being a priest, the source of all his strength in the ministry, the summit of all his prayers.
