+ Does Technology Encourage Human Flourishing? (2 segments)
- Description: We're living in a time when technology is evolving at breakneck speed. Everything from our toaster ovens to our electric toothbrushes can be synced to the internet, self-driving cars are becoming a reality and nearly every week a new product is released that will allegedly make our lives easier. Technology shapes human life and informs our understanding of what it means to be human. And advances in modern technology, from computers to smartphones, have yielded tremendous benefits. But do these developments actually encourage human flourishing? We'll talk with Craig Gay.

Modern Technology and the Human Future: A Christian Appraisal
Technology is not neutral. From the plow to the printing press, technology has always shaped human life and informed our understanding of what it means to be human. And advances in modern technology, from computers to smartphones, have yielded tremendous benefits. But do these developments actually encourage human flourishing? Craig Gay raises concerns about the theological implications of modern technologies and of philosophical movements such as transhumanism. In response, he turns to a classical affirmation of the Christian faith: Jesus Christ, the eternal Word of God, took on human flesh. By exploring the doctrine of the incarnation and what it means for our embodiment, Gay offers a course correction to the path of modern technology without asking us to unplug completely. The doctrine of the incarnation is not neutral either. It presents us an alternative vision for the future of humanity. (learn more)

+ Archbishop Lori Announces System to Report Allegations
- Description: Two stories this week show that at least some dioceses are taking the Crisis in the Church seriously. The Archdiocese of Washington, likely responding to a very vocal response from the lay faithful, announced yesterday that Cardinal Wuerl will not speak at the Mass for Life on Friday. And Archbishop Lori of Baltimore has taken the initiative to develop a third-party system for reporting abuse allegations against bishops in his diocese. We look at these stories with Matthew Bunson.
