Catholic Connection – September 2, 2009 – Hour 2

  • Description:

Segment 1 - Kara Coulter introduces the show and reports the news of the day.

Segment 2 - Mike Aquilina is the author or editor of more than a dozen books on Catholic history, doctrine, and devotion.  He is vice president of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology based in Steubenville, OH.  Mike is here to tell us all about his new book, "Fire of God's Love: 120 Reflections on the Eucharist."  Science falters and poetry fails when we try to speak of the Eucharist, but across the centuries saints, theologians and ordinary Catholics have nevertheless found words to express the inexpressible: Jesus, fully present, body, blood, soul and divinity, offers himself to humanity in this sacrament.  Mike Aquilina brings together 120 of those reflections to encourage and inspire you as you ponder the fire of God's love revealed in the mystery of the Eucharist.  (Replay from 08-06-09)

Segment 3 - Fr. Frank Pavone is the national director of Priests for Life and is host of "Defending Life" on EWTN.  Fr. Pavone talks about the late Robert Schindler, father of Terri Schiavo, who passed away over the weekend.  Fr. will be delivering the homily at Friday's funeral mass.  Fr. Pavone and Kara also talk about a new Silent No More Awareness Campaign being launched with this video.
