  • Description: This year’s celebration is on Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Jackson. Mass will begin at 10:00am at St Mary Star of the Sea and will be followed by a ticketed lunch downstairs in Star Hall. Dr Janet E Smith, a Bioethicist and Professor at Detroit’s Sacred Heart Seminary will discuss Being Faithful in an Age of Persecution. This event is open to the public. The target audience is Catholic healthcare students, ALL Catholic healthcare professionals (nurses, doctors, pharmacists, PAs, dentists, physical and occupational therapists), and all those who work in community or public health and clergy — not just doctors!

      Janet E. Smith holds the Father Michael J. McGivney Chair of Life Ethics at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. She is the author of Humanae Vitae: A Generation Later and of the Right to Privacy, and the editor of Why Humanae Vitae Was Right: A Reader. She has coauthored Life Issues, Medical Choices, Questions and Answers for Catholics, with Chris Kaczor. She speaks nationally and internationally on the Catholic teachings on sexuality and on bioethics.
