+  New California Bill Threatens Religious Colleges

  • Description: "A new California Senate Bill is posing the question: “Your funding or your faith: choose one only” to religious institutions of higher education across the Golden State. Last Month, the California Senate passed SB 1146 which would amend the California Equity in Higher Education Act (EHEA) which forbids schools receiving student aid from discriminating individuals on the basis of religion (among other things). While the current EHEA protects religious schools, the new law would limit exemptions to seminaries excluding a broad group of religious institutions. Gregory S. Baylor, Senior Counsel with Alliance Defending Freedom, discusses the implications of this bill."
