Archbishop Cordileone is a member of the Canonical Affairs and Church Governance Committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops; and a member on the Governing Board of the International Theological Institute. He recently became chairman-elect of the USCCB Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth and will serve one year in that role before beginning a three-year term as chairman at the conclusion of the bishops' 2019 Fall General Assembly.
Dr. Chavey graduated from The University of Texas Medical Branch in 1992 and then proceeded to the University of Michigan, where he completed his residency in Family Medicine in 1995. After two years at the University of North Carolina, he returned to the University of Michigan where he has been on the faculty in the Department of Family Medicine since 1997 and is currently service chief for the department. He, and colleagues, founded Emmaus Health in 2014 as a way to create a model for Catholic outpatient primary care.
