Title: THE FAURE REQUIEM
Description: On Saturday, November 2nd, at 7:00 pm, the St. Thomas Adult Choir at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Ann Arbor, will perform the Requiem Mass by French composer Gabriel Faure (1845-1924) during its Mass to celebrate (appropriately) All Souls Day. The Mass will be said in the Extraordinary Form – that is, in Latin – and Fr. William Aschbaugh will preside. Faure’s Requiem had its premiere at the funeral of Charles Lesouchafe, a parishioner at the Madeleine Church in Paris in 1888. Faure’s Requiem is one of the great works of the Church, and is often performed in concert halls. Seldom is it experienced in the setting for which it was intended. This time is different! All are welcome to attend and join with the People of God as they remember all the souls in heaven on this Holy Day. We will explore this masterpiece more deeply today on Notes From Above.
