Chuck Gaidica was born and baptized a Catholic. The great news is that Chuck has returned to the Catholic Church and knows he is home! He has also found a new home at Ave Maria Radio as host of a segment called Journey Strong. The segment and various other projects will focus on finding true wellness of body, mind, and spirit.
Chuck was once given a title that included the word innovation. He has always looked to innovate in his career and life. That sums up what he is about now; continued innovation in life and encouraging people of all ages to focus on their own wellness, reinvention, and finding joy in life all centered around Christ. The early church fathers called Jesus the Divine physician and Christ cannot be left out of any discussion related to finding peace and all that can be well with our soul.
Chuck is a Mayo Clinic-trained Wellness Coach and holds a certificate in “Second Half Significance” from Pepperdine University and the Halftime Institute. He spent a professional lifetime taking complicated, scientific information and making it easier to understand on a daily basis. Chuck prays that he can help do the same in the health and wellness space now for Ave Maria listeners.
Chuck is one of the most trusted figures in Michigan. He is an author, frequent keynote speaker, podcast host, on-camera host and now is excited to be part of the Ave Maria Radio team. Many may know Chuck from his national and local radio and television work in Michigan over four decades. He has multiple Emmy awards and was awarded the prestigious Silver Circle Award for broadcast excellence by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He could be found over the years forecasting the weather, hosting a game show seen across Michigan, or getting in his New York state of mind by forecasting the weather on the NBC Today Show or the CBS Morning News.
After retiring from full-time television news, Chuck served on staff at two churches before returning to the Catholic Church. He also worked as a leader in various efforts to bring business, media, churches, and non-profits together as “forces for good”. These efforts include helping lead a prayer walk in Detroit that brought an estimated twenty-five thousand people to the city.
Chuck loves the adventure of life. He lived and studied in Israel and Jordan for a month as part of his master’s degree. He and his wife have been back to the Holy Land twice and once leading a pilgrimage. Italy has also been a prized destination for both of them. Chuck is a private pilot and has been scuba certified. He has flown with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, flown through the eye of a hurricane, and chased tornadoes. He has been to the top of two volcanoes and lived in the Amazon jungle of Peru on expedition.
Chuck’s greatest joy is being a Christ follower and lover of family. Chuck and his wife Susan live in southeast Michigan and have been married for more than forty years. They are blessed to have a growing family of five children and their spouses along with six grandchildren and two dogs.
