What was the Sword of Simeon?

When Jesus was presented in the Temple, Simeon told Mary that “this child is set for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is spoken against. And a sword will pierce through your own soul.” It’s a story that we commemorate in this Friday’s Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. We talk more about it with William Albrecht.
