Kresta in the Afternoon – September 15, 2022 – Hour 2

Guest Host Gary Michuta and Karlo Broussard discuss common objections to Catholic teachings and Fr. Jeffrey Kirby tells the story of the Brown Scapular.

The Brown Scapular & the Weight of Glory

As we receive and nurture sanctifying grace in our souls, we are strengthened to follow the way of the Lord Jesus. St. Paul describes this as being “clothed” in Jesus Christ.  And one way we can symbolize this is through a scapular. Fr. Jeffrey Kirby walks us through the history and symbolism of the Brown Scapular.

Meeting the Protestant Challenge

Every Catholic has heard the challenge: “How can you believe that? Don’t you know the Bible says…” It’s a challenge we have to meet. If we can’t reconcile apparent contradictions between Scripture and Catholic teaching, how can our own faith survive? Karlo Broussard joins us.

Karlo Broussard, a native of Southern Louisiana, left a promising musical career to devote himself full-time to the work of Catholic apologetics. As a staff apologist and speaker for Catholic Answers, he travels the country and the world giving talks on apologetics, biblical studies, theology, and philosophy. He’s the author of several books including Meeting the Protestant Challenge and Meeting the Protestant Response. Visit him at karlobroussard.com
