Kresta in the Afternoon – October 10, 2023 – Hour 1

Fr. Chase Hilgenbrinck shares why he left a career in soccer to become a priest and Bob Schuchts discusses growing in faith through suffering.

From Soccer Nets to Fishing Nets - a Soccer Star becomes a Priest

Fr. Chase Hilgenbrinck thought he had it all. He was a rising soccer star, playing the game he loved in front of packed stadiums. But he stepped away to become a priest. Why? He joins us.

Fr Chase Hilgenbrinck is a priest in the diocese of Peopria, Illinois. He is a former soccer defender who played professionally in Chile and in the US for the New England Revolution. His story appears in Trent Beattie’s Apostolic Athletes.

Finding Hope and Healing in Suffering

Suffering is something that affects everyone. For many, it can be a stumbling block to faith in God and the catalyst to an unhappy life. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We talk with Bob Schuchts about how suffering can actually lead to greater union with Christ.
