Kresta in the Afternoon – November 28, 2022 – Hour 2

We begin this Advent season with Msgr. Charles Pope, who has a recipe for Advent readiness, and Brant Pitre, who helps us walk a spiritual path with Jesus.

An Advent Recipe for Readiness

These first weeks of Advent focus more on the Lord’s second coming in glory than on His first coming at Bethlehem. The Gospel clearly states that we must always be prepared, for at an hour we do not expect, the Son of Man will come. “Ready” is the key word. But how should we be ready? We talk with Msgr Charles Pope.

Walking the Path of Prayer with Jesus

Advent is officially underway, and it’s a great opportunity for us to grow in our relationship with Jesus. The path of following Jesus is an ancient and storied spiritual tradition. Yet many believers are not familiar with the three major forms of prayer and the three stages of spiritual growth that exist to bring them closer to God. We’ll explore them with Brant Pitre.

Dr. Brant Pitre is Distinguished Research Professor of Scripture at the Augustine Institute in Denver, CO. He earned his Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame, where he specialized the study of the New Testament and ancient Judaism. He is the author of several books including Introduction to the Spiritual Life: Walking the Path of Prayer with Jesus, Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist and the co-author with John Bergsma of A Catholic Introduction to the Bible.
