Kresta in the Afternoon – May 13, 2021 – Hour 2

Fr. Leo Patalinghug explains what happens when former convicts start a food truck and Marilyn Mcentyre discusses caring for words in a culture of lies.

What do you get when you cross a food truck and a former convict?

What do you think of when you think of a food truck? Probably not much beyond a quick way to get a taco or hot dog. Well, Fr. Leo Patalinghug is using his new food truck for a greater purpose – to teach cooking and other life skills to people returning from incarceration, and to feed underserved communities. The project launched on May 1, the Feast of Joseph the Worker. He tells us how it’s going – and don’t miss Fr. Leo on next year’s Good News Cruise!

Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies

We live in a world surrounded by lies. People lie to their friends, their employers, their pastors, their spouses and even themselves. And it makes public conversation virtually impossible. How do we combat this problem? It begins with the most basic step – being mindful of the words we use. We’ll talk with Marilyn McEntyre about caring for words in a culture of lies.
