Is Facebook a “Private” Company?

On Wednesday Facebook’s Oversight Board upheld the company’s decision to suspend Donald Trump from the social network. However, the panel did admit it was “not appropriate for Facebook to impose the indeterminate and standardless penalty of indefinite suspension.” What is this “Oversight Board?” Is Facebook just another private company that can make its own rules for its users?
