Kresta in the Afternoon – March 20, 2024 – Hour 2

When Jesus was born, the events of Holy Week were still in His future – he was yet to fully “become” Jesus. We examine what this means with Fr. Thomas Weinandy.

How did Jesus “become” Jesus?

We are approaching Holy Week, when Christ fulfilled his earthly mission through his Passion, Death and Resurrection and redeemed the whole world. Fr Thomas Weinandy, a prolific theologian, has observed that when Christ was conceived and named these acts were still in his future – he was yet to truly become Jesus. What does this mean? He joins us.

Thomas G. Weinandy, OFM, a prolific writer and one of the most prominent living theologians, serves as a member of the Vatican’s International Theological Commission. His books include the three-part series Jesus Becoming Jesus, Jesus the Chris, and The Father’s Spirit of Sonship: Reconceiving the Trinity.
