Kresta in the Afternoon – June 3, 2015

Talking about the “Things That Matter Most” on June 3, 2015

4:00 – PovertyCure: Charity, Justice and Human Flourishing

Christ calls us to solidarity with the poor. This means far more than assisting the less fortunate; it encompasses seeing them as brothers and sisters made in God’s image. It means integrating them into our networks of exchange and productivity. Michael Miller is part of an international network of individuals seeking to ground the battle against poverty in a common understanding of the value of the human person. He joins us today.

5:00 – St. Francis Used Words

The clichéd phrase to “preach the Gospel at all time and, if necessary, use words” is often attribute to St. Francis, but what he actually taught is in direct contradiction to the quote. Christ’s final words in the Gospel of Mark are to “go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation.” Peter Herbeck of Renewal Ministries shows us how the Gospel is fundamentally Good News. It’s a report on what God has accomplished and it can’t be merely nonverbal.
