Kresta in the Afternoon – June 9, 2021 – Hour 1

Do smartphones make us dumb? How can we interact with a hostile culture? We talk with Tim Muehlhoff.

Do Smartphones Make Us Smarter?

Smartphones give us round-the-clock access to the internet, providing us with a constant stream of sounds, images, videos and information that no other generation has experienced. Are we better off because of it? How does it impact our relationship and imagination? We’ll talk with Elijah John.

Interacting with a Hostile Culture

How are Christians viewed in the broader culture? We blush at the possibilities. Brainwashed fanatics? Out-of-touch dogmatists? Buffoons? The task of bearing faithful witness to Jesus is complicated by persistent―and not altogether baseless―cultural stereotypes. Tim Muehlhoff joins us to discuss interacting with a culture that has rejected us and our message.

Tim Muehlhoff is a professor of communication at Biola University in La Mirada, California where he teaches classes in family communication, interpersonal communication, apologetics, gender, and conflict resolution. He is the co-author of Winsome Persuasion: Christian Influence in a Post-Christian World.
