The Surprising Catholic Connection to America's First Shark Attack

Although fatal shark attacks on humans are rare, sharks still hold a special place in our imagination. Jaws was once the highest-grossing film of all time, and last week’s Shark Week prompted tv specials and other events. Surprisingly, we have a good idea of who may be the first shark victim in American history – and there’s a Catholic dimension to the tale. Dr. Richard Fernicola has the story.
