Kresta in the Afternoon – July 21, 2021 – Hour 2

Holly Ordway shares how her love of Tolkien helped her discover Christ.

Further Up and Further In: Lewis, Tolkien and My Journey to Christ

Holly Ordway was raised in a nonreligious home and for years was an atheist academic firmly convinced that faith was nothing but superstitious nonsense. She was well-educated and had no use for Christianity’s thoughtlessness and triviality. Her views of the faith began to change when she studied the writings of JRR Tolkien and the great Christian poets. This started her down a path that eventually led her to the Catholic Church. She joins us with her story.

Holly Ordway is a professor of English and faculty in the M.A. in Apologetics at Houston Baptist University. Her journey from Atheism to Christ is told in her book “Not God’s Type: An Atheist Academic Lays Down Her Arms” and is also included in the new book “From Atheism to Catholicism: Nine Converts Explain their Journey Home.” Visit hollyordway.com.
