Kresta in the Afternoon – January 15, 2024 – Hour 2

Dr. Phil Blosser takes a look at how the Church has understood the Gift of Tongues throughout history.

Speaking in Tongues Throughout Church History

Last year we spoke with Phil Blosser about the gift of tongues and its prevalence throughout Church history. How does the modern experience of tongues relate to the accounts we read in the Book of Acts? We look over centuries of church discussion and debate with Phil.

Dr Philip Blosser is the author of the three-volume series Speaking in Tongues: A Critical Historical Examination. Volume I focuses on the modern reexamination of tongues, while Volume II studies tongues throughout Church history. He is a Professor of Philosophy at Sacred Heart Major Seminary and his other books include Scheler's Critique of Kant's Ethics. He also served for many years as acting secretary and webmaster for the Max Scheler Society of North America, and has chaired various panel discussions at the American Philosophical Association and the American Catholic Philosophical Association.
