Hundreds of books have been written about Martin Luther King, Jr. in the half-century since his death, but it’s surprisingly been several years since a serious biography was published. That’s changed with Jonathan Eig’s new book, King: A Life. What have we learned about the man we celebrate today? Jonathan joins us.

Jonathan Eig is the bestselling author of six books, including his most recent, King: A Life, which The New York Times hailed as the "definitive" biography of Martin Luther King Jr and was nominated for the National Book Award. His other books include Ali: A Life and Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig and he served as consulting producer for the Ken Burns PBS series “Muhammad Ali.” He's appeared on the Today Show, NPR's Fresh Air, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. But his greatest claim to fame, according to his parents, is that his name once appeared in a Jeopardy question (which was solved correctly for $200).
