Kresta in the Afternoon – January 13, 2023 – Hour 2

Christy Wilkens shares how she encountered an unexpected healing at Lourdes.

What Happens when we Die?

As Christians, we are confident that we will see the face of Jesus after our death. But what does that look like? If, as St. Paul says, flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God, how can our bodies enter Heaven? We talk with Jim Papandrea.

Jim Papandrea is the author of What Really Happens after We Die: How We Know There Will Be Hugs in Heaven. He’s also a professor, speaker, and musician. Baptized Catholic but raised Protestant and eventually ordained in a Protestant denomination, Jim reverted to the Catholic Church through his studies of the Church Fathers. He holds an M.Div. degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in the History and Theology of the Early Christian Church from Northwestern University.

An Unexpected Healing at Lourdes

“This is your cross, and I am not going to take it away from you. I will be with you, and I will help you, but it is yours to carry.” Christy Wilkens heard Jesus speak those words after she prayed for her son Oscar’s healing in her parish adoration chapel one bright September day. Almost a year later she would find herself in Lourdes, France, seeking a miracle. And while her son did improve, that was not the only healing that occurred. She tells the story.
