Are Parents Legally Accountable for their Children’s Actions?
In a case that has received national attention, a Michigan jury ruled this week that Jennifer Crumbley is guilty of manslaughter for the school shooting perpetrated by her son Ethan in 2021. Her husband James will be tried on the same charges next month, and they will be sentenced later this spring. How accountable are parents for their children’s actions? Correction: We misidentified the speaker in this segment as a member of the jury. He is actually Craig Shilling, and his son Justin was killed in the Oxford shooting. As the parent of a victim, he has a very different take on this case and his statements are completely understandable. However, we do have reason to believe some of the jury shared his sentiments.
Jesus Heals a Leper
In this Sunday’s Gospel a leper approaches Jesus, who is moved with pity and heals him. We talk more about the healing power of Jesus with Peggy Stanton.
