How do American Universities teach American History?

Understanding America’s past and the uniqueness of the American Experience in history is crucial to understanding America’s present and future. Unfortunately, most American students lack basic proficiency in understanding their own history. A new report from Arizona State’s Center for American Institutions helps us quantify the problem. Dr. Donald Critchlow joins us.

Don Critchlow is Katzin Family Professor at Arizona State and author of several books, including "Intended Consequences: Birth Control, Abortion and the Federal Government in Modern America," "Revolutionary Monsters: Five Men who Turned Liberation into Tyrrany," and "In Defense of Populism: Protest and American Democracy."

What is Papal Infallibility?

It’s the feast of Pius IX, the longest-serving pope in Church history. Among his many accomplishments, he helped to formalize the idea of Papal infallibility. We explore this teaching with Dr. Matthew Levering.

Matthew Levering is the author of many books, including Vatican II as an Ongoing Theological Event and The Abuse of Conscience: A Century of Catholic Moral Theology. He is Chair of Theology Mundelein Seminary in Illinois.
