Kresta in the Afternoon – February 5, 2024 – Hour 2

It’s been 100 years since the death of Woodrow Wilson. We discuss his moral force of ideas with Patricia O’Toole.

Woodrow Wilson's Moral Force of Ideas

Saturday marked the anniversary of Woodrow Wilson’s death. He’s best known as the man who “kept us out of the war,” then later as the president who led the country through the First World War. Who was he, really? What was his vision for the country? More than any other president, he believed in the Moral Force of Ideas. What does this mean? We talk with Patricia O’Toole.

Patricia O’Toole is the author of five books, most recently The Moralist: Woodrow Wilson and the World He Made. Her book The Five of Hearts: An Intimate Portrait of Henry Adams and His Friends was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. She is a former professor in the School of the Arts at Columbia University and a fellow of the Society of American Historians.
