Kresta in the Afternoon – December 6, 2023 – Hour 1

Al shares some comments on living for God and Brent Robbins shares how he came to understand the Problem of Evil.

Kresta Comments: “It’s (Not) My Life”

The First Commandment is one of the first things we learn in Sunday School. But our culture has largely abandoned it. We were not created to exercise self-law or self-rule, we were created to live for God. Al discusses.

Atheism and the Problem of Suffering

For Dr. Brent Robbins, who was raised Catholic and became an atheist, the problem of evil and suffering was a big reason why he stopped believing in God. And while he never found a simple answer to why a good God would allow suffering, he did come to understand that there were more layers to that question than he’d initially realized. He shares his story.

Dr. Brent Robbins is a professor of psychology at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, where he also directs the Masters in Community Psychology program. He is editor-in-chief of Janus Head: Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature, Continental Philosophy, and Phenomenological Psychology, and a recipient of the American Psychological Association's Carmi Harari Early Career Award.
