When John U Bacon played hockey for the Ann Arbor Huron High School River Rats, he never scored a goal. But years later he was asked to coach the team – which at that point hadn’t won a single game in over a year. They were proud to be called the worst team in America – and John turn them into winners. He tells us how.

John U Bacon is the author of several books, most recently Let Them Lead: Unexpected Lessons in Leadership from America’s Worst High School Hockey Team. He has written for the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Sports Illustrated and many others and his books have covered everything from sports to business to health to history. He’s joined us in the past to discuss The Great Halifax Explosion and Playing Hurt: My Journey from Despair to Hope, which he co-wrote with the late John Saunders.
